Completely unprofessional and unhelpful staff. Do not waste your time. My son had to collect his ID card today. The line for collection was moving at a snails pace. When someone asked the manager why everyone else is getting preference to go in, he spoke Xhosa on purpose.
Only one week for a new passport. Very efficient service. Staff might just be a tad more friendly a smile costs nothing.

Stood with our newborn baby waiting to register birth. Doors were closed in front of our faces by silent security lady at 330,5 us of waiting outside. Branch staff member came out to say we cannot be helped as they are closing and that he is the only one doing all the admin alone.
This ofcourse was greeted with the endless sound of a ringing phone being ignored by all. Bellville is unsafe, Paarl I waited so long in the queue outside that I got severe suburn (as I didn't take a hat) and Stellenbosch has shaded areas to queue in. It's my 5th visit to home affairs. 1st was Bellville, 2nd and 3rd was Paarl , 4th yesterday in Stellenbosch and 5th again at Stellenbosch today.

Excellent service all round, clean toilets and social distancing adhered to. Some things do work in SA. If only the queuing was more organized and well defined I would have given it a 5 star rating. Hard working and competent staff with significantly better service than Stellenbosch Home Affairs. Like comparing the power rangers to the tellietubbies. Would absolutely recommend SWest over Stellies if you actually want something to get done.
As if he did'nt understand English. These people are disguisting. They closed earlier than they should.

The services and the cost of the services are listed at the door so you know as you come in how much the service will cost you. Unfortunately the staff are completely overworked. The queues are way too long!
Collecting was a quick breeze, I knew which queue to pick and had only 4 people ahead of me. Service friendly and efficient as previously mentioned. We were about 40th in queue. At 13h00 around 15 people were helped. A consultant approached us and took names of about 10 more people and told us we can go or we can wait. This being said with attitude. Meanwhile, over Smart ID Cards have been issued to citizens since the department partnered with various banks to pilot the application of the cards at bank branches.
I've already been waiting for 3 hours and it's not all that busy. Their system is primal and reminds me of the early 2000s, still with hand written tickets. From the application to the collection, it was a total of 6 working days. No-one answers their phone. It rings, and rings, and rings and then rings off. This is for an entire morning so far.
Utterly utterly useless. Been here since this morning at 7am. And it seems their lunch breaks lasts at least a few hours. There is 10 booths for people to help you but only one is occupied the whole day.and 2 cashier spots but only one occupied and not even all the time. 2 photo booths but only one person to help. And its super busy but they take their time to assist people.
