I've seen posts that say you can do it, but after an hour I gave up. A physical audio-out port would have solved the problem, but the Mini does not have one. It's a significant improvement to an already excellent product, and it makes this the easiest small speaker to recommend if you want Google Assistant everywhere in your home.

My wife have iphone with google home installed, i have android with google home installed. You can play and pause music via touch controls on the Nest Mini, but the Echo Dot offers the option to connect to a larger speaker setup easily with a 3.5mm cable. The Nest Mini’s sound was clearer though, and we could hear every layer of the music — clear mid tones, high tones, and bass. Manually controlling the volume isn’t all that necessary with the Nest Mini though, as the device automatically adjusts its volume based on the background noise in the room.
